AKDC’s work with the elderly community has been much acclaimed.  The company uses the strength of Kathak as a vocabulary to engage challenges of various conditions such as dementia, depression and arthritis

Kathak is not only a physically exhilarating dance form, but also one that uses subtle movement and gestures. These offer a vast opportunity for day-to-day fitness and well being through light exercise, slow movements, subtle yoga positions as well as the stretch of vocal muscles when pronouncing the mathematical permutations of bols. The tasks and exercises are aimed at improving breathing, flexibility, mobility and feeling energized, as well as helping to encourage and develop regular exercise routines, which can be practiced independently or with friends and family at home.
