Fierce debate surrounds the origins of Flamenco being linked to ‘Roma Gypsies’ traveling out of India from the second century.
AKDC delved into the heart of Roma flamenco communities in Andalucia - the Sacromonte caves in Granada to research if there was any truths of comparable traditions. The journey led us to collaborate a week of residency with the flamenco star Belen Maya in the mountains of Laroles to explore the links – at the end of which was a convincing performance as part of the Me Vuelves Lorca Festival.
